Our final round-up of the year’s action sees us speak to legendary poker players, who are winning tournaments and revealing more about their lives than ever before. If 2024 taught us anything as poker players and fans, it was that we love players and their stories more than anything.
There are thousands of different ways to end up at the poker table and some of those journeys might surprise you. In our final part of the series, we look back at October through December and find out a lot about our PokerStake players themselves.

Bryn Kenney Calls Out Phil Hellmuth
As October began, the man at the top of the All-Time Money List on The Hendon Mob, Bryn Kenney, called out The Poker Brat, Phil Hellmuth. With Hellmuth’s record at the World Series of Poker unsurpassed, how could Kenney come after one of the crowd favorites?
Well, Kenney referenced his own high roller success – and others – stating that WSOP events that Hellmuth has won don’t compare to winning in the toughest events against the best players… and for the highest stakes. So what is actually more impressive? A haul of 17 WSOP bracelets or millions in high roller results? Find out who has achieved more in our write-up of the explosive clash between two of poker’s greatest.

Jeremy Haney Talks Heroes
As November arrived, we spoke to a PokerStake favorite, Jeremy Hamey. Dreaming of becoming a world champion, Hamey’s run through major events in 2024 has been impressive, as he grows into the game after another successful career in finance. The Year of the Jeremy? It was a thrill to talk to a passionate player with no limits to his dreams.
“It is so gruelling, but I absolutely love it,” he said about the game of poker. “There [are] some really tough spots – I love how poker tourneys are always different each day.”

The Perfect Poker Match
We often speak to individual players in poker and find out what makes them tick. But one of our favorite interviews of the year was to a poker couple. Husband and Wife Bob and Lexy Mather have made a dual poker career work for many years and the loved-up couple even sold their action to the Super Main Event at WSOP Paradise!
Posed some tough questions, we found out what really goes in a ‘poker marriage’ and there were some revelations along the way as they lifted the lid on their relationship. Hinan Zhou Wins the Super Main Event
After an amazing event, the Chinese player Hinan Zhou won the GGPoker WSOP Super Main Event. With a guarantee of $50 million, an amazing 1,978 players took to the felt at Atlantis Resort to battle towards a top prize of $6 million.
At the final table, there were stories everywhere, as Liv Boeree won $2.8 million – the biggest single prize won by a female poker player in history. Others went close, as the overwhelming overnight leader blew his final shot, Michael Addamo crashing out early. And Justin Bonomo courted controversy when he wore a political… scarf (?) and failed to win the top prize as he ended the year some way behind Bryn Kenney at the top of the All-Time Money List.
All-in-all, however, the Super Main Event was a stunning success, as was the WSOP Paradise festival where 15 total bracelets were won and PokerStake players such as David Coleman and Josh Arieh won millions of dollars, making buyers of their action winners too.
In 2025, there will be more events to follow and more players to back than ever before. Why not head to our Staking page and check out the best players and where they’re playing next? With an easy set-up to buy or sell action, you won’t find an easier place to back players than PokerStake.
