It’s a good time to be a Poker Pwnagepro. In fact, several instructors from the popular poker training site have been excelling in the 2010 World Series of Poker (WSOP), which is ongoing from the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Adrian ChardrianDresel-Velasquez and David GhettoFabolousRandall have each made final tables so far, banking $43,000 and $270,000, respectively. Now, 40 additional tournaments await both pros, potentially leading to another final table run from the Poker Pwnage pair. Let’s take a look back at each event.
A total of 2,563 players entered Event #11 of the 2010 WSOP, a $1,500 No Limit Hold’em tournament. In the end, the buzz worthy final table came down to Randall (pictured), Tom durrrrDwan, and Australian Simon siac0 Watt. With millions of dollars in side bets riding on a possible bracelet win from Dwan, Randall maintained his composure and finished in third place for $270,000. Perhaps more significant was that the cash in Event #11 was the first of his poker career at the WSOP.
Randall hails from Westerville, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. Fellow Poker Pwnage pro Russell rdcrsn Carson told PocketFives.com that he wasn’t surprised to see Randall make a deep run in a large-field live tournament: “Given all of the huge fields he has gone through online, he knows what it takes. On top of that, he can switch gears depending on what table he is at to maximize value from his hands.”
Three years ago, Randall took down the PokerStars Super Tuesday for $80,000, his largest online poker cash to date. At the beginning of May, he trumped the field in a $162 buy-in event on PokerStarsfor another $24,000. According to his profile on Poker Pwnage’s website, the pro’s services go for $150 per hour and he specializes in “an aggressive playing style, but this aggression is very controlled. In addition, he will cover content based on lifestyles and mental aspects of poker.”
Starting on the same day as Event #11 was Event #12, a $1,500 Limit Hold’em tournament. The field was much smaller than its No Limit Hold’em counterpart at 625 players and Dresel-Velasquez (pictured) took fifth place for $43,000. With him until the end were fellow online superstar Terrence UnassignedChan and event winner Matt Matros. Dresel-Velasquez finished third in the Main Event of the fifth Full TiltOnline Poker Series (FTOPS) three years ago. DoylesRoomBrunson 10 member Zachary CrazyZachary Clark came out on top in that tournament for nearly $400,000 and Dresel-Velasquez banked $155,000.
Dresel-Velasquez also offers his coaching services at $150 per hour and detailed his current forays in a bio on Poker Pwnage’s site: “I do not put in the volume that other pro players do and although I play some of the bigger buy-in tourneys, I continue to play many low/mid-level tourneys, as I believe they have great value.”
Besides Carson, Randall, and Dresel-Velasquez, other Poker Pwnage pros include Jon sketchy1 Eaton, Tom TitanTom32Braband (pictured), Alex AssassinatoFitzgerald, and Jerry herschelw Watterson. Recent videos posted on the site include Fitzgerald’s romp through a $1,500 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) tournament and footage from Eaton in the $75,000 Guaranteed.
