Mike “swiper_fox” Perry finished sixth in the World Poker Tour’s World Poker Open from the Foxwoods Casino. Over a dozen of the best online poker players anywhere represented PocketFives.com at this marquee WPT event.
Perry entered final table play in fifth place with nearly 700,000 chips after spending most of the previous day fighting his way through with a short stack. In the very first hand of final table play, chip leader E.G. Harvin moved all in. Perry looked down and saw cowboys, pocket kings.
Pete “TheBeat” Giordano cashed for the fourth consecutive time at the Foxwoods World Poker Open Main Event. Pete was happy to make it to Day Three, and did not expect to be around long, coming in short stacked. He doubled on the first hand of the day (yelling, “Tell ’em to shut off my car in the valet,” after his 2-7 suited resulted in a flush) and was able to scrap his way up to 21st place, worth over $17,000 more than if he had finished in the first payout level. He cashed for over $37,000.
Jon “Pokertrip” Freidberg, World Series of Poker bracelet winner and all-around poker extraordinaire, finished in 38th place for over $14,000. “Jon may not be quite as well known as some of the other live and online players, but I have had the opportunity to watch a lot of great players, and none of them impress me more than Jon,” said Harrington. “His game is rock solid.” Friedberg pushed all in under the gun with A-3 suited and was called by a player with pocket sevens. The wired pair held up and Friedberg exited Foxwoods.
Other PocketFivers including Bax, Sheets, BeLOWaBOVe, Roothlus, and kwob20 all busted early in Day Two. PocketFivesLive.com now travels to the Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic, which kicks off on December 14th from Las Vegas.
