The 2021 U.S. Poker Open returns to the PokerGO Studio at the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas from June 3-15 with 12 events of high-roller action.
Some of the biggest names in the game of poker will be on hand, battling for six-figure scores and a shot at the title of U.S. Poker Open Champion and the newly created Golden Eagle Trophy, awarded to the player of the series.
The schedule features ten $10,000 buy-in events with a variety of disciplines including No Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, Big Bet Mix, 8-Game, and Short Deck. On June 13, the buy-in increases to $25,000 and then on June 14, the final event of the series is a $50,000 No Limit Hold’em tournament. All events are double re-entry, except for the final $50K which is limited to a single re-entry.
The return of the U.S. Poker Open is a win for both high-rollers looking to get back to playing live poker and fans who enjoy following the action as every final table of the series will be broadcast on the PokerGO subscription site.
Since its inception, the U.S. Poker Open has been a draw for poker’s biggest stars. In the inaugural series in 2018, Stephen Chidwick famously cashed in five of the series’ eight events, including taking down back-to-back events en route to cashing for more than $1.256 million and earning the first-ever series championship.
The series was expanded to ten events in 2019 with notable names including Nick Schulman, Bryn Kenney, and Ali Imsirovic scoring victories. In the end, David Peters bested the 33 entries in the $100,000 Main Event to take home a $1,320,000 first-place prize and narrowly defeat Sean Winter to walk away with the series championship.
Like many events in 2020, the U.S. Poker Open was taken off the calendar due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, as the 2021 U.S. Poker Open approaches, live poker in Las Vegas has been flourishing. Restrictions such as plexiglass barriers are being lifted and the demand to get back to the grind of live poker may help this year’s series see a significant boost in attendance from past series.
Recent high roller events in the United States have seen healthy fields including 145 players turning out for the $25,000 High Roller at the 2021 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown in Florida and the 2021 Venetian Deepstack Poker Series in Las Vegas seeing a total of 185 entries across its three high roller events.
The 2021 U.S. Poker Open is also a part of the PokerGO Tour, a high roller ranking system that spans 150 global tournaments and awards the winner of the leaderboard the title of PokerGO Player of the Year and $100,000 prize. Many of the players currently in the mix on the PokerGO Tour leaderboard are expected to participate in the 2021 USPO including top-ranked Ali Imsirovic, Sean Winter, Jake Schindler, PokerGO founder Cary Katz, two-time GPI Player of the Year Alex Foxen, and Daniel Negreanu.
