Hello Pocketfives.com community. My name is Richard “Richie Menlo” Guzzo, and like most of you on here, I have a passion for the game of poker, whether it be online or live. Pocketfives.com has always offered great information and results on online Tournament poker, but it has lacked in the field of high limit online cash games.
For a while, I had no idea how much more money was to be made in cash games versus tournaments. The only information the media gave us pertained to the winners of the most recent WPTs and the WSOP Circuit events. We would never hear about how Phil Ivey was taking over 16 million off Andy Beal over two days in Vegas or the hundreds of thousands of dollars won and lost each day in “The Big Game.”
I was fortunate enough to meet Pocketfives.com Owner Cal Spears while I was in Aruba for the ub.com event, and I shared with him the idea of bringing the world of high limit online cash games to the Pocketfives.com community. After a short lunch with Adam and Cal, I was offered the job. Now once a week when you log onto the site, there will be an article on the front page written by yours truly about the previous week in high limit online cash games. I will also be conducting player interviews with people who make their living playing cash games online.
Along with these interviews, I will be picking a hand or two from the week that caught my eye, usually because of the large amount of money exchanging hands. The hands I will pick will be from a variety of games, not just NL Texas Holdem’. For my short introductory article, I wanted to share a hand with you guys that was played a couple nights ago, October 24th, on FullTilt at one of their $200/$400 Pot Limit Omaha tables.
The table was six handed, and the action opened under the gun when Arbianight raised to $1,400. Right behind him, TILT_BOB matched the bet. The action was then to cash game pro Brad Booth, who plays under the name LFISGD, who elected to raise the pot to $2,411. Online cash game monster Patrick Antonius (Luigi66369) called the small raise. The action was back to the initial raiser Arbianight, who put in anther small reraise. TILT_BOB then made it $15,488 to go, and Booth and Antonius both made the call. It was back to Arbianight, who after a second of thought shoved for $66,543 all in!!! TILT_BOB called the remaining $27,877 he had left, and he was followed by Booth and Antonius, both of whom called the $55,055 on top of their bet!
After a flop of 5 3 3, Antonius bet just over $43,000 into the side pot between Booth and him. Booth, who was sitting with just over $6,000 left, was more than committed. Since all the players chips were in the middle, the cards were flipped up:
Antonius – Q K, Q, J for a pair of Queens.
Arbianight – 7 10 A A for a pair of Aces.
TILT_BOB – 9 10 A A for a pair of Aces as well.
Booth – 3 8 4 7
for a set of threes but by far the worst hand pre-flop.
The turn brought the 6, and it was followed by the 4
on the river, giving Booth a boat and the pot of just over $225,000!! It was a huge hand and one that if you didn’t see, I thought you would like to hear about.
For your Pocketfives.com cash game correspondent this is Richard Guzzo saying “Thanks for stopping by and seeing Richie on the Rail.”
