GGPoker 2024 GG World Festival – Week 5

As the penultimate weekend of the 2024 GGPoker World Festival is coming to a close, the excitement and intense competition are still peaking. The festival has already reached nearly $200 million in guarantees, with almost $50 million won over the weekend alone. There is still over $50 million more guaranteed in upcoming events over the final week. The stakes are high, and the leaderboard races are still going strong.

Since our last update, over 130 events have concluded, showcasing the festival’s diversity and excitement. While we will highlight key events across each tier, let’s first take a closer look at the action on four leaderboards, each worth a total of $2.5 million.

Leaderboard Updates

The $1,000,000 Super High Leaderboard continues to be dominated by ‘R Romanovskyi’, who added over 300 points to his score over the weekend. The podium remains unchanged, with Niklas Astedt in second place, having kept pace with the leader, and David Peters, who fell a bit further back, in third. Despite the gap, the numerous remaining events ensure that the competition will remain fierce over the last week.

Andrii Derzhypilskyi remains in fourth place, having climbed to 2,616 points, while Bert Stevens climbed into fifth, completing the top five with an increase to 2,535 points. Jans Arends fell into sixth place with 2,380 points. The rest of the top 10 remains the same: Alex Theologis sits in seventh place with 2,347 points, while Pedro Padilha is in eighth place with 2,312 points. Vladimir Minko jumps into ninth place with 2,274, and Juan Dominguez in tenth with 2,237 points.

In the High Stakes Leaderboard, the competition remains fierce among the top two positions. ‘Jacopo Olivieri’ still holds the lead with 5,152.14, but  ‘AyrtonSenn@’ is right behind in second with 5,012.12, just 140 points behind. The race for third through sixth position also remains tight, although it is over 500 points behind second. ‘Iambeggar’ sits in third with 5,510, ‘EvilDrake’ is at 4,439 in fourth, N Maimone maintains his fifth place with 4,360 points, and ‘Chicharito14’, rounds out the top 6 with 4,314 points. With a total prize pool of $750,000 and rewards extending to the top 300 participants, this race is sure to go down to the wire.

On the Medium Stakes Leaderboard, the top 2 spots flipped, and now ‘Bowrot-’ leads ‘zemachess’ by less than 2 points, 6,050.11 to 6,048.77. Last week 5th place, ‘SpicyTaco’ has continued their great run and now sits in third with 5,934 points, while ‘SzwamyChlapiec’ and ‘buenaonda’ both fell 1 spot to fourth and fifth with 5,809 and 5,799 points, respectively. With just one week to go, this incredibly tight race will be something to keep an eye on as the top 500 players on the Medium leaderboard will share a total of $500,000.

In the Low Stakes Leaderboard, the top two have kept their positioning, with ‘Survivor39’ in the lead with 6,626.93 points and ‘Marin win’ in second with 6,512.29, having caught up by nearly 100 points. The top 2 have put a non-insignificant gap to third as ‘maruzzz’ is almost 300 points back at 6,255. Fourth place has remained unchanged, with ‘Farsaa’ at 6,136 points, while fifth place is now held by ‘KingOfAllins’ with 6,002 points on this leaderboard, which will distribute $250,000 across the top 1,000 players.
