David Prociak – The Quiet Poker Hero

With a strong 2024 in his recent past, David Prociak is looking to build on the last 12 months and add to his three WSOP bracelets and two WSOP Circuit rings in 2025. One of PokerStake’s proudest players tells us why he believes this is the perfect time to start playing poker and how he balances his life between big professional events.

A Love of the World Series

David adores playing WSOP Events and calls it the series that he never wants to miss. Earlier in his career David could only attend parts of the WSOP. Nowadays, he is there all summer.

“Now that I’ve moved to Vegas I never plan to miss an event,” he says. “If I’m feeling good you’ll see me there every day during the summer. I try to be in peak form coming into the WSOP and as sharp as possible.”

Everything is built around the WSOP and David has perfected the art of playing himself into the best form he can.

“Last year I spent months playing mixed cash games here in Vegas daily leading up to the series in games I knew I would be playing on the schedule which is the only time I’ve been able to get the reps in pre series and I feel like my results really reflected that.”

The Super Support System

“I can’t think of an easier way to sell action for a player and even for a buyer.”

David joined PokerStake some time ago as a seller. He has enjoyed the process and credits it as an important part of his game, helping him to make deep runs.

PokerStake as a player is a breeze.,” he says. “A few clicks and any tournament you want to play can be up on the site and promoted on social media for everyone interested to see. I can’t think of an easier way to sell action for a player and even for a buyer for that matter, with nearly all transactions being instant after the tournament ends. Before I’d have to calculate different percentages and get cash to people which can be a chore when you’re trying to concentrate solely on playing.”

David has always had a few friends and backers who were his investors before joining PokerStake. They believed in him, but now he has way more people in his corner, and this adds to the feeling of positivity whenever he plays.

“Poker is such a solitary game where it’s you versus everyone you compete against,” David says. “I think it’s human nature to want to have others rooting for us to do well and having people invest in you is a great way to get that support.”

Poker All Year Round

“It’s never been easier to get good [at poker] very fast.”

David has enjoyed a lot of success in Las Vegas cardrooms and with poker tournaments at venues such as The Venetian and Wynn Las Vegas running events all year round, he considers this one of the best reason to have moved to Nevada.

“I moved here from Orlando, Florida where it can be an hour-plus drive to the nearest casino that host tournaments, so it’s nice to have the luxury to play so close to my home now,” David tells us. “Before moving here I’d rarely get to play with any consistency, mostly just the WSOP and Hardrock in Florida was where all my volume came from. I think the future is bright for my poker career now that I’m playing so often.”

2025 could be huge year for David, as a highly dedicated player. He believes that while the game is tougher than ever in some ways, it is more accessible than ever for players of all levels.

“I hear all the time how poker is getting tougher and maybe it’s just me growing as a player but I don’t feel it is,” he says. “Yes, the core professional players are better than they ever have been but with the influx of so many new players and increased attendance to these series I think poker is alive and well. It’s also never been easier to get good very fast. We’ve seen a lot of players come out of seemingly nowhere and make a big impact. I think as the game grows we’ll seem more of that.”

Resisting Burn Out and Making Content

“I really feel like I’m just getting started when it comes to poker.”

There is so much help out there for poker players in 2025 and many new or intermediate players look at the structured life of a professional and wonder how they plan out their year. It’s the perfect time to ask one of our PokerStake players.

“Now that I’m playing full time part of my focus is not to get burnt out,” says David. “With events every day it can be tempting to play a lot, but I think time away from the tables to think about hands played and decompress is important. When I’m not playing or spending time with my family, I actually enjoy watching all types of poker content. I’ve been flirting with the idea about making some of my own. Maybe that’s something for people to look forward to from me in 2025.”

When it comes to choosing which events to play, David often focuses on which mixed games are running. While he started late in life, one of the most positive poker players on the tour has been on a steady upward curve for some time.

“I really feel like I’m just getting started when it comes to poker,” says the three-time WSOP bracelet winner. “Getting a taste of being so high on the WSOP Player of the Year leaderboard [in 2024] really felt good and my goal is to try and compete year after year and who knows maybe win it one year. Leaving my mark on poker is important to me and considering I didn’t play my first live poker event until I was 35 I have a lot of ground to make up.”

Selling Action in 2025

Staking and buying action has never been easier on PokerStake, and as David admits, he had no idea that players sold pieces of their action before playing the game himself. Now, he wouldn’t do without it.

“I had 100% of myself early on and it wasn’t until someone asked me about selling some action that I even considered it. I was lucky enough to have success early so people who had played with me or seen me play had confidence in me. Since then, it’s been a part of my planning for series and what I’m able to play.”

David is a rising star of the game but while he has struck gold, his love of mixed games means he is lesser known than some successful players in No Limit Hold’em. He has no problem with that.

“I prefer mixed games and they don’t end up on the streams or TV as often as No Limit but if people really take a look at my results they will see I match up pretty well to some of the most successful players for the tournaments I play. With that I don’t exactly have ‘fans’ like some others do and my social media following isn’t as robust. I say all that to say I think PokerStake does a good job of putting my name out there to get discovered by the casual players who might not otherwise come across me.”

If you’ve missed out on the value so far, then we can’t encourage you enough to get on the David Prociak train now while he’s building up to full speed. With one of poker’s most consistent performers only getting better, you don’t want to miss out – check out his seller page on PokerStake here.
