Andrew Moreno Wins Wynn Millions for $1.46 Million After Chop

Andrew Moreno, Clayton Maguire, and Toby Lewis chopped up just over $4.1 million Saturday night after the three poker pros outlasted 1,325 other entries in the first-ever Wynn Millions in Las Vegas. Moreno then bested both players for his third career win and second in the last month.

The Wynn Millions was the cornerstone of the Wynn Summer Classic schedule and came with a $10,000 buy-in and a $10 million guarantee. To make the guarantee, the event needed to draw 1,064 total runners. It wound up drawing 1,328 total entries to build a $12,483,200 prize pool.

Following the elimination of Salim Admon in fourth place, the three players came to terms on a deal that saw each player take home a seven-figure score. The original payouts for the top three spots were $2,018,666, $1,248,886, and $871,314. They also left $413,907 – 10% of the remaining money – to play for with the eventual winner and runner-up respectively earning $313,000 and $100,907.

Moreno won the $1,100 buy-in Venetian DeepStack UltimateStack for $127,740 on June 16. His only other live win came in 2013 when he beat 720 other entries in a $400 buy-in Venetian DeepStacks event. His career earnings are now $2,516,261.

The event drew some of the biggest names in poker and a number of them wound up making the money, even though only the top 10% of the field cashed. Included in the group of players who picked up a score were John Racener (133rd – $25,091), Daniel Negreanu (114th – $27,099), Benny Glaser (104th – $29,348), Ramiro Petrone (93rd – $31,842), Jason Koon (79th – $38,179), David “ODB” Baker (68th – $41,997), Alex Foxen (57th – $46,406), Farid Jattin (55th – $46,406), Kristen Bicknell (53rd – $51,650), Tom Marchese (38th – $57,952), Jared Jaffee (30th – $65,485), and 2012 WSOP Main Event runner-up Jesse Sylvia (21st – $84,956).

WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open champion Ilyas Muradi finished 14th for $128,645 while Maria Ho took home $97,274 for coming in 20th place.

A few former PocketFives #1s also made the money including Cliff Josephy (27th – $74,522), Ari Engel (41st – $57,952), and Chris Moorman (127th 0 $25,091). The current #1-ranked American online player, Frank Funaro, finished in 28th for $65,485.
