On Monday, the PartyPoker World Series of Poker (WSOP) for Life promotion kicks off on the longstanding online poker site. Players from outside of the United States will be eligible to win entry into the WSOP Main Event for the next 20 years. As an added bonus, prize packages to the 2010 WSOP are also up for grabs along with a vault of cash. So how can you win your way into the 2010 WSOP and beyond through one of the world’s largest rooms? Read on to find out.
One way to head to Sin City for the annual WSOP is through the WSOP for Life Leaderboard. To ascend to the top, just rack up PartyPoints between May 24th and June 20th. The top finisher on the leaderboard will head to the WSOP for life, which for the purposes of the promotion actually means 20 years. The second through fourth place finishers on the leaderboard will claim 2010 WSOP prize packages, while the top 500 will take home a minimum of $15 in cold, hard cash. The leaderboard is open to Bronze, Silver, and Gold members.
Palladium Lounge members aren’t left out in the cold. Instead, they can compete in a special VIP Points Race for another WSOP for Life package. The VIP race is divided into four different weeks, each with a $1,200 top prize. Each finisher throughout the four weeks receives points for the WSOP for Life VIP Leaderboard. The top 60 on the final monthly leaderboard will walk away with cash, while the top 500 will be invited to an exclusive freeroll on June 23rd that will award a second WSOP for Life package.
On June 20th at 15:35 ET, look for the $320 WSOP for Life Grand Final that comes with a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool. Its winner takes home a WSOP for Life prize package and the second through fourth place players will make their way to Las Vegas for the Main Event this year. The fifth through 50th place finishers in the tournament will also take home prizes. A daily $35 tournament qualifies players for the Grand Final.
Also starting on Monday are qualifiers for the WSOP for Life Grand Final through STT Jackpots. A total of nine tickets are available and given to players who can scoop titles in five straight STTs between May 24th and June 18th. One Gold Jackpot of $50,000 is up for grabs for players who can take down five straight $55+ buy-in tournaments. Three $20,000 Silver Jackpots will be doled out to players who nab wins in five consecutive $12 to $54 buy-in tournaments. Finally, five $10,000 Bronze Jackpots will be given away to players who win five straight $3 to $11 buy-in tournaments. In each case, the winners will head to the WSOP for Life Grand Final.
Here are a few caveats. First, winners of the WSOP for Life promotion will take home a $14,000 prize package to cover the 2010 WSOP and $10,000 thereafter. If the Main Event’s price tag grows beyond $10,000, which hasn’t happened in 40 years, then players are responsible for the difference. Alternately, winners can accept $7,000 in cash in lieu of the Main Event buy-in.
PartyPoker does not accept action from the United States, but is the fourth largest site or network worldwide in terms of cash game traffic according to PokerScout.com. PartyPoker boasts a seven-day running average of just over 4,000 real money ring game players and trails only the iPoker Network for the largest not to accept U.S. players.
