Roothlus Owning the Late-Night Tourneys

Adam Levy is one of the top 10 tournament players on the internet for a reason—straight up consistency. This guy just doesn’t miss a beat, and he really hasn’t been off his game for a while now.

This week, I took notice when he was deep in the Sunday night $55k Guaranteed on Stars, which he ended up winning for about $18k. This is one of the toughest tournaments to win, and according to Roothlus, it’s the highest variance tournament out of all the daily events on Stars. It was also the first time he won the tournament, after participating in it more than 300 times. His previous best finish in this event was 4th. Considering that nearly 2,000 people play in it, you can see why it might take that long to get a win. This tournament typically ends sometime around 5 or 6 in the morning Eastern Time, making it also perhaps the longest daily tournament on the net.

Following that win, he cashed in the same tournament each of the next two days, taking 55th and 23rd, and remarkably, at the same time, he’s final tabled the $30k Guaranteed $100 tournament on Full Tilt both of those nights, finishing 5th and 3rd. This tournament on Full Tilt has been a profitable one for him, partly because he excels at shorter tables and in the $30k, all tables are 6-max.

Roothlus is up more than $20k in the last 3 days, and if things keep up, November will be a very profitable month for one of online poker’s hottest players.
