The 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) festival in Las Vegas is locked in for May 27 – July 16. Today, the full schedule of events has been announced, and with 100 bracelet events, including the fabled WSOP Main Event, budget buy-in events and super high rollers jostle for position across seven weeks of summer that will thrill poker players and fans alike.
Back to the Las Vegas Strip
“There’s nothing like summer in Las Vegas!”
The 56th annual WSOP in Las Vegas, Nevada, has something for everyone and will take place at the Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas for the fourth consecutive year on the iconic Las Vegas Strip. The 100 bracelet events are kicked off by the $1,000-entry Mystery Millions, which this year features five Day 1 flights, a $1 million top prize and $1m top bounty prize too. With 99 other bracelet events taking place, a packed schedule has a poker tournament for every player.
“We had hoped to continue to break records last year, and we did – the WSOP Main Event was bigger than ever,” Ty Stewart, Chief Executive Officer of WSOP, said in announcing this year’s schedule in the official WSOP press release. “In 2025, the WSOP schedule is better again, with something for everyone who loves the game. There’s nothing like summer in Las Vegas and we’re ready to welcome players to the biggest and best WSOP of all time!”
Last year saw GGPoker send thousands of players into the action and once again satellites will be running on the poker site, with their Global Ambassador Daniel Negreanu, who won his seventh WSOP bracelet in 2024, encouraging players of all levels to attend the Vegas spectacular.
“GGPoker’s Road to Vegas allows poker enthusiasts all over the world to make their way to Las Vegas and follow in the footsteps of their poker heroes by taking aim at WSOP gold. Join us in 2025!” he said.
When is the 2025 WSOP Main Event?
The WSOP Main Event is the biggest event of all and the jewel in the crown of the WSOP takes place between July 2 and 16 this year. In 2024, the previous year’s record was broken anew, as 10,112 players took part in the $10,000-entry freezeout tournament which has, since the early 1970s, been the defining tournament to crown an annual world champion in the game.
The opening day’s action in the Main Event – Day 1A – is on July 2, with four starting flights and concludes on the final day of the festival, July 16. One player who won’t be there to compete for the title of world champion, however, is a former WSOP Main Event and WSOPE Main Event winner – Phil Hellmuth Jr. The record 17-time WSOP bracelet winner believes that the fact there is no day off in the middle of seven gruelling days creates an imbalance towards younger players.
“It’s turned into an endurance test – I don’t think it’s measuring skill,” he said. “I know that I can’t do that – I’m 60 years old. 80% of players would say you need a day off during the Main Event. Playing from noon until midnight, it’s just exhausting. I can’t win and I think it hurts the older players more than the younger players.”
While The Poker Brat may not be in attendance, the WSOP Main Event is sure to be a huge tournament and might well award a top prize that exceeds the $10,000,000 won controversially by Jonathan Tamayo in 2024. Tamayo, whose rail were looking up GTO plays between hands, won the World Championship but in effect changed the rules – no such technological help will be available to players who compete in the 2025 WSOP Main Event as detailed in the official rulebook.
What Other Events Highlight the 2025 WSOP?
As well as the usual events that will be the center of players’ summers, there are some new and unique tournaments adding flair to a schedule that caters to many traditional tastes. Along with events such as Event #2, the Industry Employees NLHE event, which takes place across the first two days and is open to anyone employed in the gaming, hospitality or media industries sits Event #24, a $1,500 buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha Double Board Bomb Pot event starting June 6.
The biggest buy-in is Event #46, which costs $250,000 to play and is a NLHE Super High Roller across three days from June 15. However, there is also a new Event #59, entitled ‘Battle of the Ages’. Played in No-Limit Hold’em across two days from June 22, the $1,000 buy-in event will see players aged 50 and over compete on Day 1A, while players under 50 will do battle on Day 1B, with the surviving players combining to fight for the bracelet on June 23.
The ever-popular $1,500-entry ‘MILLIONAIRE MAKER’ (June 18), $50,000 buy-in Poker Players Championship (June 24) and $10,000 buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha Championship (June 28) are all ones to watch out for, while the aptly named ‘Summer Celebration’ Event #80 takes place from July 2 – the date the far more expensive $10,000 Main Event begins. Event #93, a $3,000-entry T.O.R.S.E event) from July 11, will keep Allen Kessler, ahem, mixed games players, happy, while Event #100 is a $1,000-entry Super Turbo Bounty event, meaning the final day will wrap up with one of the quickest events to take place all series.
Watching and Playing at the WSOP
Just as in recent years, anyone hoping to qualify to play WSOP online will be able to do so via GGPoker, where there are a raft of qualifiers. In 2024, the world’s biggest online poker room sent over 1,000 players into the 2024 Main Event and while the platform mostly applies worldwide, players from the United States can qualify via wsop.com and official online satellites too.
With live satellites, deepstack daily events and other promotional live tournaments to play in Las Vegas itself at the time, there are loads of other ways to make your way into 2025 WSOP bracelet events for a fraction of the cost. As well as the bracelet event schedule in Las Vegas being confirmed, the WSOP also announced that WSOP Europe will return later this year at King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic from September 12 through October 8, with its standard 15 gold bracelet events, the €10,350 buy-in WSOP Europe Main Event being its own ‘European Championship’ event.
PokerGO return as exclusive broadcast partners of the World Series of Poker this summer, with a full televised schedule to be released later in the Spring.
