The action is going to be fast and friendly during Week 4 of the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas. With the $50,000 Poker Players Championship about to crown a new champion, there are some of the busiest days of the WSOP so far coming up. From the Senior Events to the Super Turbo, Hold’em to H.O.R.S.E., here’s what’s on the 2023 WSOP schedule over the next seven days.

Who Could Claim Glory in Continuing Events?

With 20 events coming up this week, there are four events already in progress that will crown champions over the next few days. The Poker Players Championship is the headline act of those four and with 56 players surviving to Day 2 of the $50,000 buy-in event, it’s still anyone’s Chip Reese Trophy. The Day 1 chip leader was the 2021 WSOP Player of the Year Josh Arieh, but with Phil Ivey second in chips, no-one will be counting their luckies until the title is won.

In the $1,500-entry Big O Event #41, Johnny Chan has the opportunity to win his 11^th WSOP bracelet. Chan, known as ‘The Orient Express’, will have to do it the hard way, however, starting the final day in 12^th position from 18 runners.

The $1,500-entry Monster Stack event will begin Day 3 on Monday, as 389 players continue to battle down to the really big prizes. In what remains largely an amateur-heavy field, players such as Kevin Allen and David Jackson will attempt to make their professional skills count as they chase down the $1.16m top prize… and the gold bracelet.

Finally, Event #42 reached the close of Day 1 on Sunday night, with Chino Rheem in charge. The WSOP bracelet winner has the chip lead with 238 players remaining in the $800-entry No Limit Hold’em event. An incredible 3,778 players took on Day 1, an increase of over 35% on last year.

Seniors and H.O.R.S.E. Events Under Starters Orders

This week’s schedule sees some old favorites – literally – and new classics take their place on the list of WSOP bracelet events. Monday sees only two events begin, with a Hold’em event joined by a Mixed Omaha Hi-Lo event too. The first H.O.R.S.E. event of the World Series sees runners and riders head for the jumps on Tuesday, costing $1,500 to saddle up and with the race starting at 2pm local Vegas time.

Also taking place on Tuesday is the latest High Roller, this time taking place online at WSOP.com. Costing $3,200 to play, it will surely only be frequented by players with a lot of experience in the online streets, but this year’s WSOP has already shown just how popular every single event has been so don’t be surprised to see some multi-tabling happening with live players inside the Horseshoe or Paris casinos jumping on their iPads.

On Wednesday, the $1,000-entry Seniors Championship begins, giving us a real gauge as to how many mature players are taking their seats this summer. The next day – in fact, just two hours later than Day 1b of the Seniors – the Tag Team event starts too. Costing the same amount, it may as well have a maximum age restriction for the first half of the day, so expect plenty of five-bet shoves and push/fold chart play.

The $10,000-entry Pot Limit Omaha Championship kicks off of Wednesday as well, with four days enough to crown a champion in the latest ‘High Society’ buy-in tournament. Winning any Championship event is impressive, but the PLO variation will be high on plenty of top names to play… and win.

Will the Millionaire Maker Be the Biggest Event Yet?

Friday is the perfect day to kick off the $1,500-entry ‘Millionaire Maker’ event. Someone – perhaps two players? – will win a seven-figure sum of money that will likely change their life forever. With two massive starting days this week, the Millionaire Maker has the potential to be the biggest tournament yet in the 2023 World Series.

There is also a $500-entry event taking place this coming weekend, with Sunday’s Salute to Warriors event paying back to U.S. veterans by welcoming players to the WSOP felt. The Salute to Warriors is always popular with the ‘weekend warrior’ WSOP player and this year will be no different.

Also kicking off on Sunday is the $25,000-entry Pot Limit Omaha High Roller. Taking place across four days, the event is sure to bring the very best from the ‘four-card game’ to the felt and will be one to watch for star spotters among the railbirds.
