‘KingKongJoel’ Wins GGPoker Spring Festival Main Event for $1.26M

'KingKongJoel' is $1.26 million richer after winning the GGPoker Spring Festival Main Event on Sunday.

KingKongJoel‘ was in apex predator mode on Sunday as they worked their way through the 1,117 Day 2 survivors in the GG Spring Festival High Main Event to walk away with more than $1.25 million.

The $1,500 buy-in Main Event had a total of 6,803 total entries to fall $305,725 short of the $10,000,000 guarantee. ‘KingKongJoel’ earned the victory after chopping heads-up with Zhuang Ruan. For finishing as runner-up, Ruan earned $952,194.60. Taking the final spot on the podium earned ‘Lucky-Lucky‘ a $670.295.68 score. All nine players at the final table earned a six-figure score, including Samuel Vousden, who finished ninth for $119,796.00.

The other High buy-in Main Event on the calendar was the $1,500 PLO-NL event that drew 1,412 entries. The final two players in this event also made a deal at the end. Joachim ‘jochee’ Haraldstad earned $249,926.29 and walked away as the champion while ‘Majki365‘  came in second place and added $210,693.27 to their bankroll. Third place finisher Bernard Larabi won $147,781.94.

After a pair of close calls earlier in the series, David Peters finally broke through and earned his first High level buy-in win on Sunday. Peters, who won Event #57-M ($2,625 High Roller) on April 15, beat Adrian Mateos heads up to win Event #106 ($5,250 Bounty Hunters Main Event) for $296,561.39. Mateos had to settle for $135,141.49 and third place finisher Artur Martirosian walked away with $168,690.34.

Kenneth ‘Forrest_Li’ Edberg beat out 474 other entries to win Event #105 ($1,500 Sunday Marathon) and banked $123,140.52 in the process. Runner-up Pavel ‘EzzzGame’ Plesuv scored $92,342.03 for his finish while ‘Bitcoin11‘ won just a little bit more than one bitcoin at current prices for their third place result.

Germany’s Maximillian Silz took down Event #107 ($1,050 GGMasters High Rollers) to win $161,202.99. The event drew 1,184 entries and ‘porco1337‘ outlasted all but one of them to finish in second place and a $120,883.84 payday. Third place finisher ‘MikeAllingelo’ just missed out on a six-figure score, earning $90,650.07.

The final event on Sunday was Event #110 ($5,250 Festival Closer [Bounty Turbo]) which drew 124 entries. Eelis Parssinen shipped his third GGSF High title and won $152,531.03. Linus Loeliger finished second for $59,188.00 and ‘Little Pepe’ took third for $49,150.58.
