Venetian Opens New Poker Room as Rap Star Nelly and Poker Stars Play

Las Vegas’ largest poker room at The Venetian just got even bigger. Opening this weekend in Sin City, the Venetian’s new poker room at The Palazzo has 50 poker tables and in now part of a spacious 14,000 square foot space in the heart of the gambling capital of the world. With stars such as the Canadian-American close-up card magician Shin Lim and legendary three-time Grammy award winning musician Nelly in attendance, some of poker’s finest took to the felt too.

What Can Players Expect at the New Cardroom at The Venetian?

One snip of scissors at the opening later, the crowds flooded into The Palazzo at the Grand Canal Shoppes in Las Vegas as The Venetian Resort on the Strip officially opened its doors. With a new, expanded space of 14,000 square foot features 50 tables spread across 14,000 square feet of space, making it the largest room on the Strip.

The new Venetian poker room features a more enhanced player experience, with a self-serve Coca-Cola fountain, coffee on tap and an online ordering system for food. There are charging ports at the side of every seat so players never need to worry about their devices dying, while kiosks for both the Venetian Rewards scheme and sportsbetting are right there at The Palazzo.

Running 24 hours around the clock, The Venetian’s new poker room set-up features cash games and regular tournaments and as ever will make thousands of players winners in the remainder of 2024. With a new ‘streaming room’ giving players the chance to wine-up video blogs – paging Daniel Negreanu – and streaming tournament final tables and big cash games.

With games running in Limit Hold’em, No Limit Hold’em, Omaha 8 or Better, Pot Limit Omaha, and more at The Venetian, the completely smoke-free player space now looks super comfortable and with huge plasma TV Screens all around, The Venetian is one of the best spots to play poker not just in the United States but the world.

Stellar Opening Night Welcomes Stars to the Felt

A grand re-opening was in place for The Venetian to welcome poker players back to the felt. A superb mix of celebrities and poker players were in attendance to enjoy the new surroundings, with Canadian American close-up magician Shin Lim providing some of the skills that thrilled America’s Got Talent fans.

Elsewhere, the action was getting hot in therre (sic) as rap star Nelly sat down to spit three-bets and all-ins rather than his trademark award-winning lyrics. Nelly was in no kind of ‘Dilemma’ [sorry – Ed]. Besides, he had superstar company in poker terms, with recent WSOP event runner-up and commentator extraordinaire Jamie Kerstetter, Solve for Why founder Matt Berkey and Farah Galfond for company.

Others to turn up and play included ‘Child of the Sim’ Landon Tice, who lost his crossbook challenge at the WSOP Against Jeremy Becker, the poker pro and popular poker author Maria Konnikova, who penned the phenomenal poker books The Biggest Bluff: How I Learned to Pay Attention, Take Control and Master the Odds and The Confidence Game, and the seven-time WSOP bracelet winner and Vegas favorite Jeremy Ausmus.

Is The Venetian the Best Poker Room in Las Vegas?

With so much competition for poker players in 2024, where does The Venetian rank among comparable casino spaces. Its 50 tables will make it the largest poker room in America short of when the Horseshoe and Paris locations open up for WSOP crowds.Does that make it the best, however?

At the present moment, it’s hard to see past the Wynn Las Vegas cardroom, which likely has the popular vote and if it was a poker room election in November, would be elected to rule. The Wynn will host the WPT World Championship later this year, which is almost now a de facto ‘Winter World Series Main Event’, with a $10,000 entry fee and millions being up for grab to the winner. It may be the Mike Sexton Champions Cup rather than a bracelet, but if anything, the presence of the Hall of Famer makes it even more legendary.

The Bellagio, Resorts World and others have many positives to sell their sizzle, in some cases more recently than The Venetian. The Deepstack schedule that is run at The Venetian is a true selling point, however, and the venue has confirmed that while the cardroom is now bigger, and the action better, the deepstacks are going nowhere, pleasing poker fans everywhere.
